In cold climate area, during winter months, it is very often necessary to protect all type of installations against snow accumulation and ice formation. The main types of infrastructure that need to be protected are:
- Roofs, gutters and eave throughs
- Outdoor spaces: walkaways, parking ramps, stairways, loading bay, etc…
- Pipes and pipelines
This may be needed for both residential buildings and tertiary or busy public buildings as well as for industrial buildings.
Thanks to its easy installation and further operation, its efficiency, electric heating cables turns out to be the only solution for those applications.
Resistance cable ADPSV2 :
For snowmelting and de-icing applications, a higher mechanical class heating cable (ADPSV2) is needed, with double resistance wire and braided screen, suitable for industrial and outdoor applications. The outer sheath contains a UV protection, to prevent any accelerated aging when the cable is installed outdoor and exposed to sun rays.
To fit the different requirements, this cable can be supplied in a wide range of linear output (8W/m up to 33W/m) and for connection at both 230 V and 380V. For an easier installation, this cable can also be supplied pre-laid in a mat format.
The normal output used for the different applications are the following:
- Cold Chamber : 8W/m with surface output from 10 to 20W/m2
- Gutter and eaves : 17W/m to 20W/m
- Roofs : 25 a 33W/m with surface output 250 W/m2
- Open spaces : 25 W/m to 33W/m with surface output from 150W/m2 to 300W/m2

Fixing accesories
We also provide a range of accessories to facilitate the installation of the snowmelting and de-icing cables, especially within gutters and downpipes, where a correct positioning could result difficult without the suitable accessories.
Snow-melting regulation
The regulation for outdoor applications requires some specific parameters (moisture, different temperature range, etc…). A specific regulation intended for this type of application is then necessary for a proper and efficient system.
The recommended system measures both external temperature and humidity through the different sensors to trigger the system only when it is necessary. Besides it ensures the detection of a quick external temperature variation, to prevent ice formation from the very first moment.
Temperature sensors
Humidity sensors
Once installed, the system turns on and off automatically thanks to the central unit that receives the information from the sensors and switches on the heating cable when the conditions requires it.
PFP Cables
For pipe frost-protection, we propose an integrated system for a quick and easy installation. The heating cable is equipped with an incorporated thermostat and a plug. The thermostat switched on automatically the heating cable if the pipe temperature falls below 3ºC.

Self regulating cables
For both outdoor snow-melting and pipe frost protection, self-regulating cable can be used. This cable construction ensures an automatic regulation of the heating output depending on the external temperature, in any section of its length.
Self regulating cables are parallel electrical heating strips constructed from an especially finished plastic with embedded carbon particles that create an electrical path between two parallel copper bus bars. When the external temperature increases, the bulk heating resistance increases and the generated output decreases. The opposite way, when temperature decreases, the cable output increases.
This cable is mainly intended for pipes that go through areas with different temperature ranges, each section being then heated at the proper temperature depending on the local temperature.
Available in linear output from 10 to 30W/m : 10 and 15 W/m for pipe protection, 20 and 30W/m for gutters and roofs.
